POSITION OVERVIEW
The Sales Director will cultivate a pipeline of future leaders, enhance per-agent productivity, and meet key performance indicators established with the executive leadership team. We seek a candidate who is deeply committed to, and accountable for, driving the growth and development of a successful sales team focusing attention and effort across two key areas: People & Strategy.

The ideal Sales Director will take ownership of building and nurturing a high-performing sales team, as the success of the entire organization hinges on the team’s ability to close sales. The Sales Director must be disciplined about time management and prioritizing tasks to achieve success. To meet these responsibilities, the director must display a passion for growing a business, unwavering individual accountability for reaching sales goals, understanding financial data, and display ownership for profits and losses. Our candidate will be focused on exceptional client experience, maintain a high commitment to personal and professional growth, and lead with a servant’s heart.

From time to time, some company-paid, long-distance travel is required to attend our trade shows to meet with clients and sponsors. This is a hybrid role. Success in this role demands a “whatever it takes” mentality, including a willingness to relocate.

KEY INTERACTIONS
The Sales Director reports directly to the CEO. This position interacts with all department heads, and is part of the executive leadership team.

Managing people involves forming and leading an effective team while creating a team culture that values positive relationships, high productivity and flexibility. Achieving the financial goals of the business is dependent on the team’s ability to meet the needs of our clients. The Sales Director will evaluate the team’s talent needs to ensure the right people are staffed to achieve company goals. Coaching and frequent feedback drives performance of team members.

STRATEGY

A successful Sales Director is a strategic business leader looking at the bigger picture and constantly engaged in decision making and problem solving. Decisions made by the Sales Director have both immediate and long term effects on the company.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cultivates a minimum of $500k of new business per yr.
  • Solicit a minimum of 100 leads per week through phone and email correspondence.
  • Independent lead generation to research, develop, and book new, profitable business.
  • Maintain a minimum of 4.5 new proposals per month.
  • Assess and clarify client needs to maintain a minimum 90% retention rate.
  • Research and develop custom proposals based on client’s specific needs.
  • Responsible for daily tracking and keeping all reporting requirements up to date.
  • Initiating and nurturing prospective client relationships to secure opportunities.
  • Support existing client marketing and opportunities to sell new and expanded service offerings.
  • Assess networking and trade show opportunities. Lead our sales team at events.
  • Setting and achieving monthly, quarterly and annual sales objectives.
  • Learn our products, services and business approach; as well as competitors’ activity and offerings.
  • Maintain/update CRM and forecasts on a regular basis.
  • Meet mutually agreed upon transaction goals established with the executive leadership team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the executive leadership team, sales team, and decision-makers within the cannabis community .
  • Train, coach and hold direct reports accountable.
  • Develop a talent bench of future leaders.
  • Minimize turnover through effective coaching and weekly accountability sessions.
  • Conduct weekly sales meetings and daily huddles to keep the team focused and on task.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Have developed and managed a portfolio of clients developed from networking and hunting.
  • Voice of the Customer experience.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills (Fluent Spanish is a plus).
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with external and internal teams.
  • Excellent ability to adapt and learn quickly in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong initiative, time management, and organizational skills.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors’ degree in business, a related field, or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ yrs sales experience.
  • 3+ yrs trade show sponsorship sales experience.
  • 3+ years of experience leading/managing people, building, and leading a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Working on a computer for long periods at a desk.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • An attractive total compensation package, which ranges between $150,000 and $200,000. This comprehensive package includes a competitive base salary, quarterly incentives and commissions.
