POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking multiple Podcasts Hosts. Cannevents has plans to bring several existing podcast shows to it’s network; along with a slate of new shows under development. As a trade show producer in the cannabis industry, we are looking to create innovative new programming for a passionate and dedicated community. Existing shows are welcome; especially those open to rebranding. Hosts available to fill new show roles, need to be adaptable as we build a show from the ground up. Be sure that you’re either well informed within the cannabis world, or ready to learn fast. This is a professionally contracted role.

KEY INTERACTIONS

Podcast Hosts report directly to the Media Director. This position interacts with all department heads, members of field operations team, and corporate leadership team.

REQUIRED OF YOU

  • This position is required to be in the office/studio on a regular basis.
  • Paid Travel to company events and promo locations is required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs news, talk, music, comedic or other format shows or program for broadcast entertainment.
  • Establishes relationship with listeners by providing entertainment and/or information of interest consistent with format, genre, and targeted demographic audience.
  • Interviews guests, moderates debates, converses with callers, and hosts live events.
  • Ensures commercials, promos and other programming are delivered.
  • Maintains a website personality page.
  • Participates in required marketing and Sales staff meetings and events.
  • Makes regular approved appearances at paid and non-paid company events; serves as ambassador for Cannevents, our sponsors, and the podcast whenever out in public.
  • Executes only material approved by the Media Director; and follows the designated show format.
  • Assists with voice over and production of paid and non-paid promotional spots.
  • Serves as primary creative voice and directs support staff of show.
  • Researches and gains knowledge of subject matter that facilitates speaking extemporaneously and providing immediate non-scripted analysis/commentary.
  • Helps with production, writing content, sourcing visual images, audio material and video footage for websites, blogs, or other social media platforms.
  • Handles emergency inserts (e.g. news updates and breaking stories, emergencies, alert system tests, etc.); is on call for possible disasters, breaking news, or acts of nature.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Proficient in MS Office suite and social networking.
  • Familiar with media production, broadcast systems, Sound+, NexGen, Vox Pro, and Pro Tools.
  • Socially informed and perceptive; up-to-date and in tune with daily local and national trends.
  • Specialized knowledge of topics/events related to on-air discussions.
  • Upbeat personality, informative, entertaining and engaging on the air.
  • Able to relate to in studio guests, audience and cannabis community.
  • Pleasant, charismatic and well-controlled voice; excellent pronunciation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; proficient in grammar.
  • Ability to make others feel comfortable and open up on air.
  • Demonstrated creativity and imagination.
  • Able to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations and personalities.
  • Can work well in a team environment; collaborative.
  • Able to adapt to schedule changes in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines.

EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ yrs on-air radio/TV or podcasting.
  • 2+ yrs interviewing.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors’ degree in Marketing, a related field, or equivalent experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Working on a computer for long periods at a desk.
